A method that allows to create tubular stitches that are firmer and tighter than than other elastic cast-on.
You don’t need to keep the required yarn length in advance, simply add as many stitches as you want directly.
Tie a knot on one of the needles. Pull another needle through the stitch from front to back with right hand and work one stitch from right side.
Take the strand from the front of the stitch on the right needle with the left needle underneath, and cast it off. It becomes the plain stitch.
Pass the right needle between the two stitches on the left needle from the back and work one stitch backwards.
Take the strand at the back of the st from the right needle with the left needle from underneath, and cast it off. It becomes the purl stitch.
Pass the right needle between the last two stitches on the left needle from the front and work one stitch from the right side.

Take the strand from the front of the stitch on the right needle with the left needle underneath, and cast it off. It becomes the plain stitch.
8 Repeat steps 4 to 7 until you reach the required number of stitches.
